We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dietary Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Dining Services Department. This leadership role is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing the team that provides exceptional nutritional care and dining experiences for our residents.

Position Summary

The Dietary Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the Dining Department, ensuring high-quality meal service, food safety, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. This position provides leadership to dining staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment and supporting the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Dining Department.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and monitor department staffing.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and improve dining services and operations.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other departments to provide exceptional resident care.
  • Monitor food quality, sanitation, infection control, and kitchen safety standards.
  • Develop menus that incorporate resident preferences, variety (seasonal), and nutritional needs.
  • Review and process prescribed diets and dietary changes in collaboration with Health Services.
  • Train and mentor dining staff on food preparation, sanitation, equipment use, and nutrition standards.
  • Conduct resident interviews to assess dining satisfaction and preferences.
  • Ensure menus and required documentation are maintained according to policies and regulations.
  • Oversee meal planning and preparation for holidays, special events, and celebrations.
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure staff are following procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation, storage, and dining areas.
  • Purchase food, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Balance supervisory responsibilities with hands-on food production and assist as a Cook or Dining Assistant when needed.
  • Participate in the Convent Food Committee and attend required meetings and training.
  • Collaborate with Catholic Health LIFE Program to assist in providing lunch meal service to the day center Monday-Friday.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources regarding staffing and personnel matters.
  • Support a person-directed culture that encourages resident choice, engagement, and dignity.
  • Minimal travel required (approx. twice per year)
  • Flexibility with schedule and ability to work overtime to meet the needs of the department and/or special functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • AS/BS Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Hospitality preferred
  • ServSafe® or comparable food safety certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in food service required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of cook/food preparation experience required.
  • Experience in an institutional, senior living, long-term care, or healthcare food service setting strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of traditional Polish cuisine preferred.
  • Familiarity with Roman Catholic Dietary customs preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of nutrition, therapeutic diets, food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and resident-centered care.
