    12pm-8:30pm

    The dietetic clerk I assists patients with meal ordering, maintains the integrity of patient diet prescriptions, and monitors & assures that all patients are receiving meals. The dietetic clerk works directly with patients & clinical staff on patient care units serving meals, maintains needed floor stock inventories, and assists patients who are unable to order their meals or have specific dietary needs. Collects and cleans dirty trays and carts from the floors as well as cleans and sanitizes dishes. Follows food safety and food sanitation procedures. Customer service skills are imperative.

    Responsibilities

    Customer Service:

    • Assists patients with daily meal selections in the room service call

    center. Answers telephone promptly and courteously, responds

    appropriately. Records data received and directs to appropriate

    person or area.

    • Possesses basic diet knowledge and effective use of food/nutrition

    service software. Uses nutrition services software to update

    patient services counts and production.

    • Offers suggestions to Dietitians and the Food Service Director.
    • Takes patient and guest orders for meal selections. Follows diet

    compliances and is able to evaluate meal selections for adherence

    to special diet restrictions. Makes decisions which satisfy the

    customer yet stay within the hospital philosophy & medical

    restrictions.

    • Works with clinical staff to meet patients' nutritional needs &

    improve satisfaction.

    • Is friendly, courteous, & highly responsible.

    Food Service:

    • Assists in various aspects of assembling & transporting patient

    food trays.

    • Serves meal trays to patients using AIDET & 2 patient identifiers.
    • Maintains appropriate pantry inventories and employs food safety

    knowledge on inpatient nursing units.

    • Assists with nourishment preparations.
    • Helps with cleaning & dishwashing tasks in the kitchen.

    Qualifications

    • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Experience: Food service experience and /or previous customer service experience.
    • Knowledge/Skills/Abilites: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to read and write. Able to perform basic math. Excellent customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Thorough knowledge of departmental function & operation. Computer knowledge using a variety of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
