Job Description
Maintains patient information regarding diet order, meals, food preferences and food allergies. Responsible for communicating with nursing, patient, family and the food and nutrition staff regarding patient nutritional care. Assists registered dietitians in the care of patients. Participates in food service tray-line. Maintains various records in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Job Responsibility
Modifies daily menu in accordance with the physicians written order, the departmental Diet Manual, the patients food preferences, allergies, and/or the meal pattern established by the registered dietitian. 2.Calculates diets as ordered for patients on regular or special diets and tube feedings.
Maintains the patient diet cardex.
Assists patients in menu selection based on diet orders and offers alternate food selections when needed.
Conducts patient meal rounds.
Communicates with nursing, dietitians, and food service staff regarding patient nutritional care.Takes appropriate action.
Checks patient tray line.
Provides basic medical nutrition therapy to low risk patients.
Identifies patients at nutritional risk and refers them to registered dietitian, as appropriate.
Maintains various records including production sheets and census reports.
Participates in Performance Improvements activities

Job Qualification
Associates Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, required. Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR), preferred.
