Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawaii's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawaii's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapiolani. The hospital is home to the Kapiolani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapiolani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

The Food and Nutrition Services department provides quality nutritious meals to patients, visitors and staff while educating on the importance of healthy eating habits. It also works with medical staff to ensure accurate diet modifications for patients as needed. The department is responsible for performing a variety of general preparation and food service activities, including tray assembly and delivery, working in the cafeteria, cashiering, ware washing, assisting with pantry functions, nourishment activities and catering. If you are a responsible and caring individual with great communication skills, you could share valuable nutritional and dietary information with Kapi'olani patients and staff.

As the Dietitian, you are responsible for approving patient menus and nutritional supplements, providing dietary counseling to patients, family members, and caretakers, documenting nutritional assessments and evaluating patient tolerance to therapeutic diets, as appropriate. In this role, you will collaborate with other hospital services (e.g. medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, and social work services) to plan and implement patient care, as necessary. As the Dietitian, you will maintain pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify therapeutic diets, as needed, to meet the nutritional needs of the patient. You will also serve as the primary liaison between patients and the Food and Nutrition Department to promote service excellence.
