    About the Role

    Larkin Community Hospital South Miami Campus is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Dietitian to join our Food Services team. The Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive nutrition assessment, education, intervention, and monitoring for hospitalized patients while collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, Food Services personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

    The Dietitian assists in ensuring that patients receive nutritionally appropriate meals consistent with their medical conditions, physician orders, cultural preferences, and individualized nutritional needs. This position also supports the hospital's food and nutrition services by assisting with menu planning, therapeutic diets, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient education.

    Education

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
    • Completion of required supervised dietetic practice, internship, or other qualifying professional experience necessary for applicable professional licensure and registration.

    Preferred:

    • Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Clinical Nutrition, or a related field.

    Licensure and Certification Requirements

    • Current and active Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist license required.
    • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
    • License and professional registration must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)

    Experience

    Preferred:

    • One (1) or more years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in an acute-care hospital, healthcare facility, rehabilitation facility, or similar clinical environment.
    • Previous experience providing medical nutrition therapy to hospitalized patients.
    • Experience with therapeutic diets, nutrition support, and nutrition assessment.
    • Experience working with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.

    Qualified entry-level Registered Dietitians who meet all education, registration, and Florida licensure requirements may also be considered.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    The successful candidate should demonstrate:

    • Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
    • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition requirements associated with various medical conditions.
    • Understanding of enteral and parenteral nutrition principles.
    • Ability to interpret laboratory results and other relevant clinical information as it relates to nutrition care.
    • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and healthcare food service standards.
    • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to educate patients and families in a clear, compassionate, and understandable manner.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, Food Services staff, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple patients and responsibilities in a fast-paced hospital environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
    • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when handling sensitive patient information.
    • Ability to provide culturally sensitive nutrition education and care to a diverse patient population.
