Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Digital Accessibility Specialist:
- Using Adobe Acrobat, CommonLook, and similar tools to remediate PDF documents in order to ensure compliance with accessibility standards; ensure that complex documents meet or exceed all applicable standards.
- Other document remediation assignments could include web pages, Microsoft Office documents
- Using assistive technologies, such as screen readers (such as JAWS, Narrator, or NVDA), to manually ensure that document experiences are equitable and functional.
- Support and fulfill accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders.
- Track and report on progress and activities related to document remediation.
- Monitor and review updated or new accessibility and document standards as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills for Digital Accessibility Specialist:
- Experience authoring and remediating documents for accessibility which includes experience auditing documents for accessibility compliance.
- 4-6 years of experience using Adobe Acrobat/Pro and Microsoft Office
- Software: CommonLook PDF or other document remediation tools; Screen Readers (JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, etc.) and other assistive technology used for manual accessibility testing
- Strong communication, organization, time management, prioritization, and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze issues and develop appropriate solutions and plans of action
- Knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508, WCAG, PDF/UA
- Strong attention to technical detail

Compensation Details: $25-28/hr based on experience
