Digital Accessibility Tester

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Digital Accessibility Tester job in Hartford, CT. This CONTRACT hire job is available with one of our key customers, a Connecticut-based government organization. In this role, you will be responsible for manual accessibility testing of complex digital assets, including websites, applications, mobile apps, enterprise platforms, digital forms, documents, chatbots, authenticated systems, CMS integrations, and legacy technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with accessibility standards, assistive technologies, WCAG compliance, and quality assurance testing practices.

Digital Accessibility Tester job Responsibilities:

• Conduct manual accessibility testing of digital products, services, websites, applications, documents, mobile applications, and enterprise systems to ensure compliance with WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
• Develop and maintain accessibility test cases, testing libraries, testing protocols, issue inventories, and reporting frameworks to support remediation efforts.
• Perform accessibility audits and identify issues using assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Dragon, Fusion, ZoomText, and other accessibility tools.
• Document accessibility findings, provide remediation recommendations, and communicate technical issues clearly to developers, engineers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Support accessibility remediation efforts through code-level guidance involving HTML, ARIA, semantic markup, responsive web design, and digital best practices.
• Evaluate vendor products, platforms, and digital services for accessibility compliance and assist with accessibility requirements during technology procurement.
• Maintain accessibility documentation, compliance tracking, benchmarking data, and risk assessments across multiple systems and business domains.
• Collaborate with agile product teams, website administrators, content developers, platform engineers, and digital asset managers to improve accessibility standards.
• Perform regression testing before and after remediation to validate accessibility improvements and ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Support accessibility training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer for internal teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Web Development, Library/Information Science, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field, along with 3+ years of hands-on digital accessibility testing experience using WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
• Experience working on digital product teams with strong knowledge of manual accessibility testing methods, assistive technologies including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Dragon, Fusion, ZoomText, and accessibility best practices.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, ARIA, semantic markup, responsive web design principles, and experience auditing complex digital systems, applications, forms, documents, and legacy platforms to identify accessibility issues and recommend remediation solutions.
• Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe, WAVE, WebAIM, SiteImprove, Sitebulb, ARC Toolkit, browser developer tools, and familiarity with Agile processes, project tracking tools, and digital product development practices preferred.
• Ability to analyze testing data, maintain documentation, develop accessibility testing methodologies, support remediation efforts, and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, developers, and stakeholders to improve accessibility standards.
• Experience with digital accessibility compliance for websites, mobile applications, chatbots, digital forms, documents, enterprise systems, and certifications such as IAAP CPACC/WAS, DHS Trusted Tester, Deque University, PMP, or Section 508 preferred.
