Digital Accessibility Tester - Hartford, CT (REMOTE)

Duration: 6 months

Seeking for a Digital Accessibility Tester with strong experience in manual testing of complex digital assets. 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct testing of digital products, services, and technologies to ensure the highest standards of accessibility
• Maintain and organize testing data for focused remediation efforts
• Assist with code review and help developers quickly apply best practice solutions for critical usability issues
• Audit systems and customer-facing assets to find accessibility issues
• Develop test cases and improve testing protocols
• Provide recommendations for remediation
• Evaluate new vendor products for compliance with accessibility standards

Documentation:

• Collect and document testing data for benchmarking and analysis
• Support performance scoring and compliance tracking

Testing/QA:

• Execute and iterate manual accessibility testing for all digital assets
• Integrate testing policies and perform quality checks on audit processes

Communication:

• Clearly communicate testing outcomes and provide expertise to stakeholders
• Maintain effective relationships across multiple teams

Maintaining:

• Maintain test libraries and testing standards
• Mentor team members on accessibility standards
• Stay updated on latest accessibility standards and document changes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• 3+ years of hands-on digital accessibility testing experience
• Strong proficiency in manual testing with assistive tech
• Expertise in HTML, ARIA, and semantic markup knowledge
• Understanding of user-centered design methodologies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with software like Axe, WebAIM, SiteImprove, and Sitebulb
• Strong organizational skills and experience with agile processes
• Proficiency with MS Suite and related tools
• Experience in testing complex systems using standard technologies
• Experience in accessibility compliance for various formats

Desired Certifications:

• IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, etc.)
• PMP certification
• DHS Trusted Tester certification
