Volunteer Position

The American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA) is seeking a motivated and organized high school junior or senior to join our team as a Digital Communications Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in communications, marketing, nonprofit work, or digital media to gain hands-on experience managing social media for a national professional organization.

The Digital Communications Intern will assist the AHTA marketing team with scheduling, editing, and posting content across multiple platforms while learning about the field of horticultural therapy and nonprofit communications.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and publish posts on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Edit and format social media graphics using Canva
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining the social media content calendar
  • Draft or adapt captions for posts
  • Collaborate with AHTA staff and volunteers on campaigns and announcements
  • Help maintain consistent branding across platforms

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates are high school juniors or seniors who are:
  • Comfortable using Canva
  • Familiar with Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Highly organized and able to manage tasks independently
  • Strong communicators with good writing skills
  • Reliable and responsive when working remotely
  • Interested in learning about social media strategy and nonprofit communications
  • Able to collaborate effectively with a small team

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5-10 hours per month
  • Position requires a 6-12 month commitment.
