    SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

    The Digital Content Specialist will maintain and develop the FeedMore WNY and Hearty Helpings Inc. external websites and intranet. The position provides social media support for the department and organization and writes the copy for the staff and volunteer newsletters.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for maintaining organization's websites, including adding and updating pages, copy, images and graphics;
    • Proactively perform regular website audits to ensure content is accurate, up-to-date and aligned with organizational mission and brand as well as current organizational priorities;
    • Work with senior management and other departments to source and create content for website that supports organization's goals, including but not limited to blog posts, calendar listings and page updates;
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve search optimization efforts, user experience and increase website traffic;
    • Improve website look and functionality and maintain an industry-leading position;
    • Respond to, troubleshoot and solve website issues;
    • Work with external vendor and IT and Systems Director on major website projects and website maintenance;
    • Ensure website complies with appropriate laws and regulations;
    • Maintain organization's Google Business presence with regular monitoring and updates as needed;
    • Manage an organizational intranet to strengthen internal communications, including adding and updating pages, copy, images and graphics;
    • Create copy deck and work with Graphic Designer to produce monthly newsletter for staff and Board of Directors and quarterly newsletter for volunteers.
    • Assist in the creation and publishing of high-quality content for organization's social media platforms;
    • Provide support to other Communications Team members as needed;
    • Assist with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with Farm Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off-site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered meals; and
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience) plus proven experience of 2-3 years in communications, digital content creation or related field;
    • Web development skills, preferably experience working in WordPress;
    • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
    • Knowledge of various social media platforms and best practices;
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; requires a team player attitude; attention to detail, project coordination, leadership abilities; efficiency and passion for the mission;
    • The ideal candidate is well organized and able to optimize the use of space and equipment while reducing costs;
    • Comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously and working under a variety of deadlines;
    • Ability to collaborate with staff at all levels, ability to work with individuals of all educational levels, varied backgrounds and skills sets, including department personnel; as well as interface with board, CAC and committee members, community members, volunteers and vendors;
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus;
    • Intrinsically motivated with the ability to work independently or with a team;
    • Valid NYS Driver's License and daily access to a vehicle; and
    • Capable of lifting 35 lbs.
