Who we are: At Arkana Laboratories, everyone has an important role to fill. Come join us and be a part of a team dedicated to making life better for those who need it most.

This place is packed with super-smart people who do their best work together. We work hard every day to advance our understanding of disease and provide world-class care to our patients in hopes of leaving our corner of the world a little better than we found it. While we are committed to improving the lives of thousands of patients, we never lose sight of the realization that they are the reason we get to create change in our field.

Built on generosity, teamwork, and the freedom to try new things, we take great pride in our work. Great ideas come from everywhere in this company and we celebrate each success and failure for the opportunity it gives us to keep reaching. For more than twenty years after our founder, Dr. Patrick Walker, wrote his goals on the back of a napkin, our people, culture, and values have remained strong.

About the role
The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for Arkana's social media channels and digital content operation from strategy through execution. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this role operates with significant autonomy. You'll make independent decisions on what gets published, how Arkana shows up across platforms, and how the organization is represented to referring physicians, patients, and the broader medical community.
Day-to-day, that means working directly with Arkana physicians and staff to develop content — planning it, producing it, and getting it out the door. You'll own the content calendar, manage publishing workflows, and monitor performance without waiting for direction. Routine content decisions are yours to make. Sensitive or high-stakes content is elevated to the Marketing Manager and/or CMO.
This role carries real reputational weight. Arkana has built a trusted brand in the renal pathology space over decades, and this person is responsible for maintaining that trust across every public-facing channel. Strong editorial judgment and a genuine sense of accountability are essential.

What you'll do
  • Independently manage Arkana's social media content operation across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and others — making day-to-day editorial decisions on format, platform, cadence, and creative approach
  • Partner directly with Arkana physicians to plan, coordinate, record, and produce video and written content; translate clinical expertise into content appropriate for professional and patient audiences
  • Film, edit, and produce video content end-to-end — physician-led educational pieces, lab features, and campaign assets — making independent production decisions throughout
  • Write and edit copy for social posts, video captions, and short-form digital content with attention to accuracy, voice, and compliance
  • Own the content calendar; manage scheduling tools and publishing workflows independently
  • Monitor channel performance, pull your own analytics, draw actionable conclusions, and present strategic recommendations to the Marketing Manager
  • Lead content execution for time-specific campaigns in coordination with the broader marketing team
  • Evaluate new platforms and content formats; bring platform recommendations to leadership with supporting rationale
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to support content production; manage those relationships and timelines independently
  • Apply working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare communication standards to all content; flag compliance questions proactively

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field
Experience
  • 3-5+ years of experience in content creation, social media management, or digital marketing
  • Demonstrated history of operating with significant autonomy — managing content channels and making independent editorial decisions without per-post approval
  • Prior experience in a healthcare, scientific, or B2B environment strongly preferred
  • Portfolio demonstrating video production and social content work required; samples that show independent creative decision-making preferred
Skills and abilities
  • Ability to produce video and audio content end-to-end: filming, editing, and publishing with minimal oversight
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills with a developed editorial voice and attention to brand consistency
  • Comfortable working with physicians and clinical professionals as content collaborators — not intimidated by subject matter complexity or physician schedules
  • Proven ability to translate technical or scientific subject matter into clear, engaging content for non-specialist audiences
  • Data-literate — independently pulls performance metrics, draws actionable conclusions, and adjusts approach accordingly
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple content streams and production timelines simultaneously
  • Low ego and high patience. This role requires flexibility, resilience, and the ability to work around competing priorities without losing momentum
  • Genuine curiosity about Arkana, our work, and the professional audiences we serve
Technical skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, After Effects, or equivalent video and audio editing tools)
  • Proficiency in major social platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok
  • Experience with social media scheduling and analytics tools (Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar)
  • Proficiency in studio equipment — camera, lighting, and audio
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

What great looks like here
  • Independent editorial judgment - You make confident, informed decisions on content and platform strategy without needing step-by-step direction, and escalate selectively when the stakes are genuinely high.
  • Brand stewardship - You understand that managing Arkana's social presence is a reputation management responsibility, not just a content production job.
  • Accountability - You take full ownership of channel performance and content quality, and hold the operation to a high standard without being managed to it.
  • Strategic thinking - You see beyond individual posts to understand how content decisions compound into channel presence and brand perception.
  • Physician relationship management - You build productive working relationships with staff, navigate physician schedules, and produce work that reflects genuine understanding of the subject matter.

This position is Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM onsite in Little Rock.
