This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Digital Design Specialist for the Public Health and Human Science Admin at Oregon State University (OSU).

Are you a creative student looking to build real-world experience in graphic design, video production, and social media? The College of Health's marketing and communications team is looking for a motivated Digital Design Specialist to help tell our community's story across digital platforms.

In this role, you'll create visual content that represents the College of Health across campus and online. Your work will directly support marketing campaigns, recruitment efforts, and storytelling projects that highlight student experiences in academics, research, and campus life.

This is a hands-on opportunity to grow as a creative professional. You'll be mentored by an experienced marketing team and have room to grow into other areas of interest such as graphic design, photography, long-form video, print design, or writing. The skills you develop here - design, storytelling, and social media strategy - are directly applicable to careers in marketing, communications, and beyond.

Position Duties

  • Designing marketing materials such as flyers, digital signage, graphics, and promotional pieces
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Express, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Producing short-form videos for Instagram and TikTok
  • Feel comfortable creating videos and being on camera as the subject and/or interviewer
  • Creating visuals and content for social media channels that highlight Oregon State University and College of Health students
  • Collaborating with the marketing and communications manager to maintain consistent branding and messaging
  • Follow OSU brand guidelines
  • Assisting the Social Media Specialist with content planning
  • Assist with other digital media and marketing projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Experience using design tools such as Adobe Express, Canva, Figma, or Photoshop
  • Comfortable and confident being on-camera
  • Collaborative, positive, energetic, engaging
  • Strong verbal skills
  • Willingness to experiment with design and video techniques
  • Willingness to share personal student experiences
  • Own a laptop to be able to create designs
  • Own a smart phone to be able to take short videos

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

  • Active personal accounts on Instagram and TikTok
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Demonstrated experience with short-form videos
  • Experience with digital video editing tools
  • Active in clubs and activities
  • Interest in health and well-being promotion
  • Student who can work the full 20 hours a week is ideal
