Job Summary

The Digital Learning & Archives Manager (DLAM) leads the development, organization, and long-term management of digital instructional materials and civic education archives. This position oversees the creation and maintenance of virtual learning modules, digital repositories, and multimedia collections, including student-produced oral histories and civic storytelling projects. The DLAM ensures that all digital resources are accessible, well-organized, and aligned with instructional standards while supporting faculty, students, and community partners in the production and use of digital civic content. This role is critical to ensuring the effective dissemination, preservation, and sustainability of the projects digital learning resources. The incumbent may be required to perform job-related duties other than those specifically delineated in this description.

This position is grant funded. Continued employment is based upon the availability of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, organization, and management of digital instructional materials and civic education archives.

  • Design and maintain digital repositories that house curriculum resources, civic learning modules, student projects, oral histories, and multimedia content.

  • Ensure that all digital materials are accessible, well-organized, and aligned with instructional standards for use by educators, students, and community partners.

  • Establish and maintain metadata, cataloging, and digital preservation practices to support long-term sustainability and searchability of archived materials.

  • Collaborate with faculty, teachers, and project staff to support the creation, submission, and curation of digital civic content.

  • Provide guidance and technical support to students and educators involved in recording, producing, and archiving oral histories and civic storytelling projects.

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of virtual learning modules and online civic education resources.

  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards, data management protocols, and ethical guidelines related to digital archives and student-generated content.

  • Support the public dissemination of project resources by maintaining user-friendly digital platforms and contributing to outreach efforts.

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and project leadership to monitor digital resource development, track usage, and support reporting requirements for the grant.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Educational Technology, Digital Media, Library & Information Science, Instructional Design, History, Public Humanities, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing digital instructional content, repositories, or archives.
  • Experience with digital learning platforms, multimedia tools, and content management systems.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with digital archives, oral history projects, or civic education initiatives.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, UDL principles) and ethical data stewardship.
  • Experience supporting grant-funded or research-based projects.
  • Knowledge of D2L and digital repository systems.
  • Background in civic education, history, social studies, or public scholarship.

Proposed Salary

The proposed salary for the Digital Learning & Archives Manager (DLAM) is $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and aligned with institutional salary guidelines for grant-funded professional staff positions.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of digital learning environments, instructional technology, and online content management systems.

  • Knowledge of digital archiving practices, including metadata standards, cataloging, and digital preservation.

  • Knowledge of educational technology tools and platforms used for creating and managing multimedia instructional content.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., ADA, WCAG) and best practices for inclusive digital learning resources.

  • Knowledge of data management, digital repositories, and information organization within educational or research environments.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage digital assets and multiple project deliverables.

  • Proficiency in digital content management systems, learning management systems (LMS), and cloud-based collaboration tools.

  • Ability to create, edit, and manage multimedia content, including audio, video, and digital storytelling resources.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with faculty, teachers, students, and community partners.

  • Ability to train and support users in the development and submission of digital content.

Abilities

  • Ability to develop and maintain digital repositories and archives that are organized, searchable, and sustainable.

  • Ability to translate instructional goals into accessible digital learning resources.

  • Ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical standards when managing digital content and archives.

  • Ability to analyze, organize, and curate large sets of digital materials for instructional and public use.

  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across interdisciplinary teams and community partners.
