The L.D. Batchelder Elementary School is seeking a Digital Learning Specialist to begin in the 2026-2027 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Digital Learning, the Digital Learning Specialist will serve as the building-based instructional technology coach and information specialist for students in grades K-5. The Digital Learning Specialist also works cooperatively with the Coordinator of Digital Learning to help implement the district-wide technology plan.

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 1, 2026. New educators are required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.

Essential duties

  • Teach students research and information literacy skills (access skills, literature appreciation, library skills, media production use, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills) pertinent to Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards
  • Co-teach, model, and support integrated lessons in the classroom by providing direct instruction to students and educators in the use of computer applications (such as Powerpoint, Inspiration, iPhoto, and iMovie) and new and emerging technologies
  • Provide leadership, support, and training to classroom educators and specialists for digital learning and technology integration
  • Support our 1:1 Chromebook initiative using Google Suite for Education (formerly Google Apps for Education)
  • Facilitate the development of curriculum units that fully integrate the information technology benchmarks into the content areas
  • Provide technology assistance for students with diverse learning styles or those on Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Develop and conduct building-based and system-wide professional development workshops for instructional technology initiatives
  • Promote information technology and identify areas of the curriculum best served by technology use
  • Consult and collaborate with Curriculum Leaders and Coordinators to identify appropriate software and programs to support curriculum
  • Evaluate new software and hardware to support teaching and learning
  • Facilitate school-based technology teams
  • Consult with school principals and others in developing individual School Technology Plans that support and facilitate the implementation of the District Technology Plan
  • Participate in regional job-alike meetings and conferences
  • General IT support for staff and students as requested and/or directed by the Coordinator of Digital Learning or Principal
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Digital Learning, Principal, or their Designee

Requirements

  • Bachelor''s Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Instructional Technology Specialist Teacher, all grade levels
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of educational technology
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of school media services, library automation, and technology integration
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
