Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. The college has served students in the Lewis County region since 1925 and is the oldest continuously operating community college in Washington State. Job Description

The Digital Media Production Specialist is responsible for producing, editing, and distributing multimedia content that supports the marketing, communications, recruitment, and public relations goals of Centralia College. Under general supervision, the position creates video, photography, and social media content; manages the colleges social media presence; collaborates with departments across campus; and helps strengthen the colleges brand, reputation, and engagement with internal and external audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and manage the colleges social media calendar and create daily content across multiple platforms.
  • Monitor social media performance and implement strategies to increase engagement and audience reach.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, news, emerging issues, and reputational risks affecting the college.
  • Evaluate and recommend new social media platforms, technologies, and best practices.
  • Monitor online conversations regarding the college, respond to inquiries, track sentiment, and identify opportunities for engagement.
  • Train and support faculty and staff regarding social media best practices and brand standards.
  • Maintain social media account documentation and archiving requirements.
  • Create video and photographic content including planning, scripting, filming, editing, captioning, post-production, and distribution.
  • Write and edit content for websites, email communications, marketing campaigns, and print publications.
  • Coordinate and conduct photo and video sessions on and off campus.
  • Document campus events, student activities, programs, and community engagement efforts.
  • Transport, set up, operate, and maintain cameras, lighting, audio equipment, drones, microphones, and other production equipment.
  • Collaborate with clients, departments, and College Relations staff to produce multimedia projects.
  • Provide production support including identifying interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting project concepts.
  • Perform post-production activities including photo editing, color correction, audio enhancement, rough cuts, final edits, and media distribution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in telecommunications, video production, media arts, photography, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • One year of full-time experience creating and executing marketing campaigns, social media content, video production, photography, or closely related work.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Premiere Pro or equivalent software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated video production, writing, photography, and graphic design skills supported by a professional portfolio.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, media production, marketing, public relations, or related field.
  • Experience working in higher education, public sector, or nonprofit communications.
  • Experience operating drones and managing digital asset libraries.
  • Experience with web content management systems and accessibility standards.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of the Digital Media Production Specialist position require employees to regularly talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands for operating cameras, computers, and multimedia equipment. The position frequently transports and sets up photography, lighting, and video equipment and may lift or move up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in office settings, classrooms, event venues, outdoor locations, and other campus environments. The position may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, bright lighting, elevated platforms, and crowded public events. Evening and weekend work is regularly required to support college events, productions, and marketing activities.

Conditions of Employment

This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time professional/technical exempt position. The salary is $49,400-$51,250 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the TIAA/CREF retirement system.

This position is fully in-person and based on campus. Remote work is not available for this role.
