Job Title: Digital Media Specialist

Primary Purpose
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for capturing, creating, and sharing the stories of
Venus ISD through photography, videography, social media, graphic design, and digital
communications. This position will promote student achievement, staff excellence, district
initiatives, academic growth, extracurricular activities, and community partnerships while
increasing community engagement and enhancing the district''s public image.
The Digital Media Specialist serves as the district''s storyteller by highlighting the positive
accomplishments of students, staff, and programs through various digital platforms and
communication channels.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate''s Degree or Bachelor''s Degree required.
Experience
- No prior professional experience required.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms preferred.
- Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, or content creation preferred.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and current trends.
- Ability to create engaging content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and
other digital platforms.
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software preferred.
- Basic photography and videography skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Content Creation
- Capture photos and videos of students, staff, programs, facilities, and district events.
- Create engaging graphics, videos, reels, and promotional materials for district
communication platforms.
- Develop content that highlights:
o Academic achievement and student growth
o Athletics and extracurricular activities
o Fine arts programs
o Career and Technical Education programs
o Student organizations and competitions
o Staff accomplishments and recognition
o District initiatives and projects
o Community partnerships and events
Social Media Management
- Manage and maintain district social media accounts.
- Develop and implement a consistent content calendar.
- Monitor social media engagement and analytics.
- Promote positive stories and district accomplishments.
- Ensure social media content aligns with district policies, branding standards, and
professional expectations.
Event Coverage
- Attend and document district and campus events, including:
o Back-to-School Bash
o Open Houses
o Convocation
o Homecoming Activities
o Athletic Events
o Fine Arts Performances
o Academic Competitions
o Community Events
o Graduation Ceremonies
o Board Recognition Programs
Graphic Design and Marketing
- Design flyers, graphics, presentations, advertisements, and promotional materials.
- Support district recruitment efforts through marketing and social media campaigns.
- Assist in maintaining a consistent district brand and visual identity.
Website and Digital Communications
- Assist with website updates and digital content management.
- Create digital newsletters and community updates.
- Maintain a digital archive of district photographs and videos.
- Support communication efforts related to district programs and initiatives.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Promote district programs and accomplishments to parents, community members, and
stakeholders.
- Support efforts to strengthen community involvement and partnerships.
- Collaborate with campus and department leaders to identify and share positive stories.
Other Duties
- Assist the Superintendent with communication and public relations initiatives.
- Support district-wide events and special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
