Practice Support Leader - Major Projects

(Project Delivery, Technical Guidance, and Digital Execution)

Position Summary

The Infrastructure Practice Support Leader - Major Projects is a senior role within the Infrastructure Digital Practice (IDP) responsible for coordinating major projects, digital project execution planning, and technical advisory services for complex infrastructure work. This role helps project teams with digital delivery planning, workflow coordination, and practical guidance for execution challenges. The position serves as a technical advisor, delivery resource, and program manager for IDP and Stantec Infrastructure.

This position reports to the Senior Digital Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Major Project Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate digital delivery for major projects, aligning IDP resources, priorities, and commitments with project objectives and schedules.
  • Provide guidance for digital execution planning, workflow setup, and delivery readiness for complex infrastructure programs and pursuits.
  • Advise project teams on execution strategy, digital workflow adoption, and risk escalation for complex major projects.

Project Communications and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Develop and manage project communication approaches that keep project teams, delivery contacts, and stakeholders aligned on scope, decisions, schedule, and digital delivery progress, including:- Project updates, coordination notices, and project briefings tied to active project delivery
  • Project collaboration spaces, information hubs, and delivery reference materials
  • Project workflow guidance, team instructions, and delivery-specific messaging
  • Project meetings, stakeholder workshops, and delivery coordination sessions

Digital Execution Training and Capability Development

  • Coordinate with the Digital Delivery team on training programs that improve project readiness and adoption of infrastructure workflows.
  • Contribute technical guidance or sponsorship for training programs including, but not limited to:- Civil 3D project setup, standards, and production workflows
  • Autodesk Forma and early-stage digital planning workflows
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud for collaboration, coordination, and issue management
  • BIM-enabled estimating, coordination, and project controls workflows
  • Digital delivery planning and client-facing project execution processes
  • Assess capability gaps and align training priorities with project risk, delivery needs, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Digital Delivery team on training resources, adoption tracking, and continuous improvement of digital execution capability.

Major Projects and Technical Guidance

  • Coordinate delivery of IDP project services for major projects, ensuring commitments are scoped clearly, resourced effectively, and executed in alignment with project needs.
  • Provide technical support for:- BIM and digital workflow planning for complex project delivery
  • Digital Project Execution Planning (DPXP) and implementation guidance
  • Project-level troubleshooting, delivery advisory services, and workflow optimization
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor for infrastructure digital delivery workflows and project execution challenges.

Technical Content Development and Communities of Practice

  • Contribute to the creation of technical guidance, playbooks, and learning content for major project execution and digital delivery consistency.
  • Work with the Digital Delivery team to create technical communications and implementation resources for digital project delivery.
  • Strengthen Communities of Practice by providing structure, facilitation, and relevant content that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate selected Communities of Practice and mentor staff in facilitation and knowledge-sharing approaches.

Project Planning, Consulting, and Delivery Oversight

  • Coordinate planning and delivery of IDP consulting and project engagements, fulfilling project management responsibilities in alignment with the Stantec PM framework, including:- Team coordination, scope management, and delivery oversight
  • Business development and pursuit coordination
  • Contract review, service definition, and commercial alignment
  • Project financial management, forecasting, and reporting
  • Execution planning, delivery controls, and performance tracking
  • Review contract language and service terms for IDP consulting and major project engagements.
  • Contribute to business planning, forecasting, and service definition to meet major project demand.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical and project management resource for IDP engagements, contributing directly to planning, execution, and delivery outcomes.
  • Coordinate effort estimation, work planning, and internal coordination for IDP project services and major project commitments.
  • Mentor IDP staff on project management discipline, commercial awareness, and delivery planning practices that strengthen project execution.

Project Growth and Industry Engagement

  • Contribute to major project pursuits through digital delivery input, risk reviews, delivery approach definition, and proposal development.
  • Help shape digital delivery services for major infrastructure opportunities, transportation programs, and agency-led delivery needs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand value through workflow innovation, automation, and digital services that improve project delivery performance.
  • Provide clients, business leaders, and project teams with practical digital delivery guidance for major projects.

Client Advisory and Project Engagement

  • Engage directly with clients, agencies, and internal project contacts on digital delivery strategy, major project readiness, and execution planning.
  • Contribute to digital delivery program development through workshops, advisory sessions, implementation guidance, and project-focused initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary advisor on workflow strategy, training priorities, and digital delivery needs for major projects.

Team Coordination, Mentoring, and Supervision

  • Coordinate, mentor, and supervise IDP staff through structured coaching and planning activities, including:- Regular planning and coaching sessions with junior staff
  • Ongoing development and alignment meetings with experienced staff
  • Contribute to staff development by sharing lessons learned from complex digital delivery and major project execution.
  • Help team members identify strengths, define growth goals, and align development plans with business needs and major project priorities.
  • Provide guidance on project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and navigating complex delivery challenges

Industry Engagement and Practice Contribution

  • Share effective digital delivery practices for major infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in conferences, industry forums, client sessions, and project-focused initiatives related to digital delivery.
  • Share lessons learned and practical perspectives on digital delivery and major project execution.

Qualifications and Experience - 10+ years of experience in infrastructure digital delivery, BIM, major projects, and digital project execution.

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geospatial science, construction technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital project execution planning, technical advisory services, and delivery coordination for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in Autodesk platforms, BIM-enabled workflows, and infrastructure delivery systems, including Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and related tools.
  • Proven experience mentoring staff, coordinating complex programs, and working with cross-functional teams in high-demand delivery environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for project coordination, client communication, and stakeholder engagement in complex delivery environments.
  • Experience working directly with DOTs, public agencies, and large infrastructure programs on delivery strategy, digital execution, and project services.
  • Strong experience mentoring staff through complex project delivery, technical problem-solving, and evolving business priorities.

Pay Range:

  • Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP)-$162,000.00 - $243,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
