Job Title: Digital & Public Services Librarian (Part-Time)

Reporting Structure: Director, Library Services Division, Academic Affairs

Job Summary: The Digital & Public Services Librarian is a part-time position that combines technical digital expertise with visible public service. The role supports the librarys digital systems and electronic resources by contributing to public services such as reference and research assistance, information literacy instruction, departmental liaison activities, and campus outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the ILS (e.g. OCLC WorldShare WMS) electronic resources and access systems, troubleshoot e-resource issues with vendors and CIT. • Administer LibGuides structure permissions, content quality, and coordinate library web updates with the University webmaster. • Generate and analyze reports for assessment, accreditation, and planning support digital initiatives with library and campus partners. • Maintain the librarys official social media accounts with University Communications to promote resources, services, events, and initiatives.

Public Services:

• Provide reference and research assistance to library users. • Design and deliver information literacy instruction across disciplines, collaborate with faculty to embed research skills into the curriculum. • Create and maintain instructional materials and research guides, assess and improve session effectiveness. • Serve as library liaison to assigned departments or colleges, support collection development, and keep departments informed of relevant resources and services. • Develop and support outreach activities and campaigns, contribute to library events and promotions, including approved social media communications. • Provide scheduled circulation desk coverage, assist with course reserves, access policies, stacks maintenance, and support a welcoming service environment.

Participation in Collection Maintenance Activities:

• Participate in collection maintenance activities, including shifting, weeding, and basic materials handling.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of library systems, electronic resources, and access technologies. • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills for reporting and data analysis. • Ability to provide high-quality reference support and information literacy instruction. • Excellent communication skills and strong customer service orientation. • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education and Experience:

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program required. • Experience with library systems, electronic resources, reference services, and instruction in an academic or comparable setting. • Preferred: • Academic library experience • Experience with OCLC WMS or similar ILS. • Experience administering LibGuides or equivalent background in data reporting or assessment. • Demonstrated instruction experience at the post-secondary level. • Subject liaison background. • Experience with web content management, outreach communications, or institutional social media platforms.

Physical Requirements:

• 28 hours per week schedule determined by the University to meet service needs, including digital reference and instructional commitments. • Evening or weekend coverage may be required. • Position is based at library public service points, requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and lift/carry materials up to 25 lbs. (e.g. collection shifting and weeding).
