Dimensional Metrology CMM Programmer & Mechanical Quality Inspector
The Entwistle Company builds mission-critical components for U.S. and allied defense. In this role, your precision, creativity, and judgment directly support national and global security—while you grow in a collaborative, innovative environment.
A day in the role
You begin by loading a complex assembly onto the CMM. After validating your program, you verify key features with micrometers and an optical comparator, then capture plating thickness with gauges. A first-article inspection arrives next; you compare results to purchase-order requirements and generate a formal report. You spot a non-conformance, notify production, and help drive corrective action. Before lunch, you host a brief review with a government representative. Later, you analyze trend data, flag a process improvement to management, and suggest a tweak to an inspection method to increase throughput. You wrap up by documenting results and tidying a clean, safe workstation.

- Program and run CMMs; operate tools such as FARO Arm, Keyence Wide Area CMM, micrometers, height stands, optical comparators, thread and plug gauges, gauge blocks, and plating thickness gauges.
- Execute final product/assembly checks, first piece and first article inspections, and incoming inspections of vendor items to ensure purchase-order compliance.
- Record inspection outcomes and produce formal inspection reports per company procedures.
- Detect non-conformances, alert production or assembly teams, and follow through on corrective actions to closure.
- Track quality trends and notify management when corrective actions or process improvements are warranted.
- Recommend enhancements to inspection equipment or methods to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Interface with customer and government representatives.
- Maintain an orderly, safe work environment and follow all health and safety rules.
