About the role

As a Dimensional Metrology & CMM Programming Technician, you’ll be the person production, engineering, and our suppliers count on to validate that every part meets customer, company (RGC), and industry standards. Your day moves from the production floor to the inspection lab, combining hands-on measurement with methodical documentation and continuous improvement.

A day in the life

  • Rotate through in-process checks to keep machining on target and finish with thorough final acceptance inspections prior to shipment.
  • Examine inbound supplier materials and confirm outbound customer orders meet specifications.

  • Use advanced metrology tools—ID/OD micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, tooth verniers, CMMs, and a Hofler gear inspection machine—to measure what matters.
  • Maintain and execute the calibration program so gauges and instruments remain reliable and compliant.
  • Flag and contain nonconforming material, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coach operators on best-practice measurement methods to reduce variation at the source.
  • Support PPAP/ISIR submissions, process capability studies, and first-article documentation.
  • Keep records tight—organize quality files, certificates, and customer documentation for easy retrieval.
  • Join internal audits and help with supplier quality activities to drive systemic improvement.
