Dining Services Assistant (Dietary Aide)
Champlain Valley Senior Community is seeking a dependable, friendly, and compassionate Dining Services Assistant (Dietary Aide) to help provide residents with an enjoyable, safe, and respectful dining experience.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare dining rooms before meals, including setting tables and organizing supplies
• Serve meals and beverages to residents in a friendly and professional manner
• Follow residents’ prescribed diets, meal plans, food consistencies, and allergy instructions
• Deliver meal trays to residents as assigned
• Assist residents during meals within the responsibilities of the position
• Observe residents’ food and fluid intake and report concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Clear tables and clean dining areas after meals
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, trays, and kitchen equipment
• Clean and sanitize counters, tables, carts, appliances, floors, and assigned kitchen areas
• Assist with basic food preparation, portioning, and plating as directed
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate food and supplies
• Maintain beverage and hydration stations as assigned
• Follow food-safety, sanitation, infection-control, and temperature-monitoring procedures
• Report supply shortages, damaged equipment, spills, hazards, or resident concerns promptly
• Communicate respectfully with residents, families, coworkers, and supervisors
• Protect residents’ privacy, dignity, preferences, and independence
• Complete assigned documentation and cleaning checklists accurately
• Assist with special events, celebrations, and catered functions as needed
Qualifications:
• Previous dietary, restaurant, senior-living, healthcare, or food-service experience is preferred but not required
• Friendly, patient, dependable, and comfortable working with older adults
• Ability to follow dietary instructions, food-safety procedures, and cleaning schedules
• Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and customer-service skills
• Ability to safely perform the physical duties of the position, including standing, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying trays, and pushing carts
• Must successfully complete all required background checks, health requirements, training, and employment documentation
Schedule:
Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available. Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required based on the dining schedule.
