Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour.

Summary
Seeking a reliable Dipping Department Technician to support our vacuum impregnation process on electrical units. This position involves operating ovens, monitoring vacuum systems, chemical processing, and ensuring consistent quality in the impregnation process. Candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to work in a manufacturing environment with specialized equipment.

This role involves applying protective insulation varnish to aircraft electric motor components, such as armatures, rotors, and stators, to prevent electrical failure and protect against environmental stressors. The technician follows detailed technical specifications and safety protocols to prepare components, perform the dipping and curing process, and ensure a high-quality finish. 

Primary responsibilities

  • Operate vacuum impregnation equipment ovens in accordance with established procedures.
  • Load and unload units for dipping and curing processes.
  • Monitor equipment performance and process parameters to ensure product quality.
  • Perform inspections and document process results.
  • Handle materials safely and maintain proper workflow between stages.
  • Communicate production or equipment issues to supervision in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and proper housekeeping practices.

Dipping and coating

  • Heat components to a specified temperature before dipping to ensure proper varnish thickness and penetration.
  • Operate and maintain a vacuum-pressure impregnation (VPI) system, a process commonly used for aerospace motors to create a void-free insulation system.

Curing

  • Operate industrial ovens to cure the varnish according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Monitor temperature and curing cycles to ensure complete polymerization.

Quality control and testing

  • Inspect finished components for drips, imperfections, and proper coating thickness.
  • Use electrical testing equipment, such as insulation resistance testers, to confirm the integrity of the insulation system.

Safety and compliance

  • Work with hazardous materials in a controlled environment, following all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety goggles and respirators.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and military standards (mil-spec) as required for aviation components.

Documentation

  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and testing results for quality assurance and compliance. 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required. Additional vocational or trade school training in electric motor repair or aviation maintenance is a plus.
