The Director Facilities Management leads the strategic planning, coordination, and daily management of the hospital’s physical environment. This role ensures all internal and external hospital spaces are safe, compliant, and efficient. The Director oversees critical operational divisions, including access control, clinical engineering, emergency management, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Officer, Sustainability, Security, Plant Operations, while successfully directing capital programs and maintaining strict fiscal responsibility
The Director is responsible for the on-going monitoring and changes of the physical environment to include all pertinent internal and external hospital spaces; the planning, assignment and coordination of activities of the division to operate the hospital’s facilities effectively and efficiently. The Director is also responsible for the Environment of Care, Life Safety, Work Place Violence, TOSHA and documenting any changes on the “Statement of Conditions” as required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The Director will exhibit a financial acumen to keep project and operations within budget.
Job Duties:
· Facility & Environment Management: Oversee all internal and external hospital spaces, including Plant Operations and Sustainability.
· Safety & Security Leadership: Direct clinical engineering, access control, security services, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and Emergency Management.
· Compliance & Accreditation: Ensure full compliance with Physical Environment, Life Safety, and TOSHA standards.
· Documentation: Maintain and update the "Statement of Conditions" as required by the Joint Commission.
· Capital Programs: Manage and execute the hospital's Capital Program effectively and efficiently.
· Financial Management: Provides strong financial leadership by balancing operational needs, project execution, and staffing resources while maintaining budget compliance.
· Vendor Management- Oversee Biomed, Security, EH&S and construction contracts providing direction and oversight to ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
· Code Knowledge - Deep knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation standards, NFPA and TOSHA regulations.
· Overall Management - Proven experience managing healthcare facilities, capital projects, and large operations budgets. Strong leadership skills to coordinate multiple specialized divisions simultaneously.
Education: Bachelor in Facilities Management / MEP Engineering
Certification & Licensures: Required at time of employment CHFM preferred or CHOP-A, Valid Tennessee Driver’s license
Experience: 10 years in Director level position
