Position Summary: Direct Care Supervisors and the House Manager supervise a supportive adult apartment program by supervising staff and facilitating individuals receiving services to acquire independence skills and self-esteem needed to establish and achieve personal goals. Full-time, awake position.
Primary Duties & Essential Functions:
- Develops, maintains, and utilizes a sound working knowledge of regulations of the governing agency.
- Sound working knowledge of Vanderheyden policies, practices, and systems.
- Knowledge of Vanderheyden mission.
- Working knowledge of management practice.
- Adheres to the DSP Code of Ethics.
- Demonstrates the ability to meet the OPWDD Core Competency standards and ability to observe and provide feedback to others on performance of OPWDD Core Competency standards within OPWDD programs.
- Maintains current with all required trainings.
- Safely transports individuals as assigned per level of supervision required.
- Provides direct support to individuals as needed and necessary.
- Completes all assignments thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of staff, individuals served, and their families.
- Ensures supervision is completed according to agency standards.
- Completes assignments as assigned by supervisor or designee.
- Reflects a positive approach towards individuals receiving services, their families, the job, and other service providers.
- Can plan effectively and take action without ongoing prompts.
- Keeps supervisor informed of program status and potential issues.
- Makes sound decisions within the realm of responsibility.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
- 1 year of experience as a Direct Support Professional.
- High school diploma/GED or associate's degree, preferably in the Human Service field, preferably with a similar population.
Abilities and Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work a minimum 40-hour work week.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time.
- Must have a valid NYS driver's license with clean MVR.
- Must be able to perform physical interventions and maintain SCIP certification
- Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.
- Maintains medication administration certification per program standards.
- Work weekend and evening hours as outlined in schedule.
- Can adequately communicate orally and in writing.
- Basic computer literacy
- Promotes and supports cultural diversity and is sensitive to those served.
Pay: $24.00 - $25.75 an hour based on education and experience.
