What You'll Do

As a Direct Care Worker/CNA at HLH, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our residents with their daily routines and ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity. Our residents may have dementia, cognitive impairments, behavioral needs, or chronic medical conditions, and your role will be essential in helping them live harmoniously. Here’s a closer look at your responsibilities:

Resident Care & Activities of Daily Living

• Assist residents with personal care needs, including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting.
• Support mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and the use of mobility devices.
• Provide scheduled toileting and incontinence care while maintaining privacy and dignity.
• Follow individualized resident service plans and care instructions to encourage independence whenever safely possible.

Dementia & Behavioral Support

• Deliver calm, respectful, and dementia-friendly care using techniques like redirection, reassurance, and validation.
• Observe and report changes in cognition, behavior, sleep, appetite, or mobility to the appropriate supervisor or care provider.
• Use non-pharmacological approaches to address anxiety, agitation, or behavioral changes, avoiding confrontation or unnecessary restrictions.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring: - Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar role. - Compassion: A genuine desire to provide respectful, person-centered care. - Attention to Detail: The ability to follow individualized care plans and promptly report changes in resident conditions. - Patience: A calm and understanding approach, especially when supporting residents with dementia or behavioral needs.
