This role is responsible for estimating commercial and industrial electrical projects, cultivating client relationships, and managing awarded projects from start to finish.
Estimating Duties
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with new and existing clients through outreach, including cold calling, in-person visits, and phone calls.
- Prepare accurate project estimates using the estimating database (McCormick).
- Review project solicitations, scopes of work, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive bids.
- Communicate effectively with trade partners, subcontractors, and team members regarding project details.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost analyses and estimates for commercial and industrial projects.
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and on schedule.
Project Management Duties
- Review project-specific submittals (lighting, lighting controls, switchgear, etc.).
- Oversee subcontractor performance as required.
- Draft, communicate, and manage change orders.
- Plan, develop, and maintain project schedules from award to completion.
- Create material lists and coordinate timely ordering of project materials.
- Maintain safety and quality control standards across all projects.
- Provide field technicians with clear direction regarding project execution and expectations.
- Offer ongoing support to field staff by answering questions and providing technical guidance.
- Supervise and monitor project progress, ensuring customer satisfaction upon job completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in estimating and project management within the electrical or construction industry.
- Proficiency with estimating software (McCormick preferred).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, specifications, and drawings.
