    Description

    Monday-Friday day hours; 8:00a-3:00p.   We have an opening for a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional-CNA to support individuals with disabilities.  In this role you will provide hands-on care, promote independence, and help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

    Primary Objective of the Position: 
    Provide a positive learning environment and experience for adults with developmental disabilities in order to assist them to increase and maintain skills, which enable them to gain independence in a variety of areas. 


    Major Areas of Accountability: 
    • Provide input and assistance in implementing formal and informal participant objectives.
    • Utilize lifting equipment to help transfer individuals to/from locations such as bathroom, wheelchair, etc.
    • Regularly assists participants with eating, mobility (including transferring) and other personal needs.
    • Provide supervision to participants throughout the day.
    • Provide positive, age-appropriate interaction opportunities for participants throughout the day.
    • Provide meaningful tasks and activities so that participants are engaged in functional activities.
    • Set up and carry through with tasks in ways that assist participants in increasing their independence.
    • Have a working knowledge of in-house jobs so that assistance can be provided to participants so they job can be completed correctly and quality is maintained.
    • Perform general clean up and maintenance of program and work areas.
    • Collect accurate program data on a daily basis.
    • Communicate with others regarding concerns and program progress of participants in such a way that respect and confidentiality are maintained.
    • Work cooperatively with other staff, agencies and family members in order to facilitate services provided.
    • Possible bus aiding on am and/or pm routes.
    • Accept work direction from the Training Specialist and supervision from the Program Supervisor 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to provide a positive work atmosphere for participants.
    • Ability to implement effective techniques for working with people with developmental disabilities.
    • Ability to negotiate and find creative solutions to problems.
    • Ability to assist and transfer individuals using equipment provided.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Ability to engage in a cooperative work style, encouraging teamwork and respect.
