    Role Description The Direct Support Professional is a full-time, on-site role located in Cheshire, CT. This position provides daily support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including assistance with personal care, life skills, and community integration. Responsibilities include implementing individualized service plans, supporting people in social and recreational activities, and promoting independence in areas such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation. The role involves monitoring and documenting progress, communicating effectively with team members and families, and following all safety and regulatory guidelines. The Direct Support Professional contributes to a respectful, inclusive environment where individuals are treated with dignity and encouraged to reach their personal goals.

    Qualifications

    • \n
    • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Human Services, including support for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.
    • \n
    • Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to work effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues.
    • \n
    • Experience providing Training or coaching to individuals in daily living skills and community participation.
    • \n
    • Ability to follow care plans, maintain accurate documentation, and adhere to health and safety procedures.
    • \n
    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in social services, psychology, or related fields is beneficial.
    • \n
    • Prior experience in direct care, residential programs, or healthcare settings is preferred but not required.
    • \n
    • Reliable working vehicle with valid license, insurance, registration. The ability to work assigned shift. Multiple shifts available.
    • \n
    • Trainer on site for CPR, PMT, New Hire Orientation.
    • \n
    • Commitment to person-centered, non-discriminatory care and the ability to support individuals with dignity and respect.
