We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting residents with daily activities, health monitoring, and community engagement, ensuring a respectful and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams.
Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking while adhering to dietary restrictions and care plans.
Transporting the individual to and from medical appointments.
Community Integration: Accompany the individual on community outings, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience, and encouraging participation in social activities.
Behavioral Management: Implement behavior support plans, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, behaviors, and any changes in the individual’s condition.
Environmental Support: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive living environment for the individual.
Promote Independence: Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and self-advocacy.
Qualifications
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
CPR/1st Aid certified or willing to certify before start date
Valid physical and PPD within 1 year of application date
Experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and behaviors
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Patience and compassion for those with disabilities
NADSP DSP Level 1 certification or higher preferred or must be acquired within 90 days of hire
Must be willing to complete company assigned trainings through MyODP prior to start date
Ability to re-direct individuals and de-escalate behaviors
