As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you begin each shift ready to help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives as independently as possible. You have made it your mission to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. You will assist our clients with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping documentation accurate and up-to-date.
Some aspects of this job are not easily accomplished but at the end of each shift, knowing your clients are happy makes you feel great about the work you do!
Job Description:
Provide workflow coordination and monitoring of support staff in areas including but not limited to coaching, training, and, assigning tasks within scope of our community-based and individual support programs. Direct Support Professional Responsibilities
Individualized Support: Assist individuals in developing skills, achieving personal goals, and maintaining their independence through personalized care plans. Provide hands on assistance with personal hygiene, grooming, feeding and medication reminders.
Daily Living Assistance: Assist individuals with their daily living skills, including medication reminders, meal preparation, hygiene, while encouraging their independence and building a positive relationship.
Emotional and Social Support: Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for individuals, promoting their emotional well-being and encouraging social engagement.
Crisis Management: Identify and respond to challenging situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques and other interventions as necessary.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided, progress notes, and incident reports in compliance with organizational and regulatory guidelines.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and other team members to ensure coordinated and effective care.
Direct Support Professional Requirements
Successfully complete a 6-hour online paid training prior to starting work.
Pass a fingerprinting and background check as part of the hiring process.
CPR and First Aid certification
At least 18 years old
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience with ID/A individuals preferred
Active Driver's License
Driving record below 5 points
Ability to pass NJ regulated Drug Test
Good organizational and communication skills.
Access to a functional device to record EVV data (mobile phone)
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
