    Description

    Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Community Habilitation

    Reports to: Program Supervisor

    Location: Bronx, NY

    Job Classification: Part-time 

    FLSA: Non-exempt

    Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

     

    Shifts

    • 7am-3pm
    • 3pm-9pm


    Program Hours:

    • 4-6 hours per day during weekdays and weekends (flexible)
    • 20-24 total hours per week


    Experience:

     1-2 years in Health or Human Services field

    SCIP / CPR / First Aid certifications

     

    Education: 

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    Brief Job Description:
    DBIS is a not-for-profit agency located in Yonkers that services individuals with developmental disabilities within the Bronx and Manhattan. Community Habilitation is an individualized program of support that focuses on increasing independence in life skills, including but not limited to activities of daily living (ADLs), socialization, community safety, community inclusion, and expanding the individual's knowledge and use of community resources. The Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (CH DSP) is responsible for implementing the valued outcomes contained in the Individualized Service Plans. The roles include executing goals and objectives as outlined in the individual's Community Habilitation Service Plan through ongoing engagement with the individual(s) in purposeful, goal-oriented activities in their homes and surrounding communities. The CH DSP will guide and support individuals in establishing functional independence in specific skill areas and document their progress in attaining the assigned goals.

     

    Mandatory Requirements:

    • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and families.
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills
    • Fluency in Spanish and English
    • Flexibility, poise, tact, and the ability to develop rapport with individuals of various backgrounds and positions
    • Exceptional analytical ability and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrate a high level of patience and compassion
    • Able to work various shifts (7am-3pm, 3pm-9pm)
    • Ability to travel within Bronx and attend any required meetings/training at Bronx location
