Direct Care Associate - Regional Supervised Housing Program

Schedule Monday-Friday 12:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

Salary: $37,058

Shift Differential: Additional $2.50 per hour for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts worked

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is hiring a Full-Time Direct Care Associate to support adults living with serious mental illness in our Regional Supervised Housing Program. This is a meaningful opportunity to help individuals build stability, strengthen daily living skills, and work toward greater independence in a supportive residential setting.

In this role, you will work overnight to ensure residents are safe, supported, and following their individualized service plans. You will be part of a team that focuses on recovery, respect, and helping individuals remain successfully in the community.

What You'll Do

  • Provide supervision and support to residents in a residential mental health setting
  • Assist with daily living needs and promote independent living skills
  • Monitor resident wellbeing, behavior, and overall progress
  • Document observations and complete required shift notes
  • Respond to resident needs and support a safe, structured environment
  • Communicate with your team to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold client rights at all times

About the Program

The Regional Supervised Housing Program supports adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. The goal is to reduce hospitalizations and help individuals live as independently as possible with the right level of structure and support.

Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of experience supporting adults with serious mental illness
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
