Summary:

Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking caring and energetic Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community-based residential setting in Laurel, MS. The Direct Support Professional position plays an important part in providing assistance in daily living activities, accompanying Pine Belt Mental Healths consumers on outings in the community, and supporting treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.

Supervised Living Services provide individually tailored supports which assist with the acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to living in the community. Learning and instruction are coupled with the elements of support, supervision and engaging participation to reflect the natural flow of learning, practice of skills, and other activities as they occur during the course of a person's day. Activities must support meaningful days for each person. Activities are to be designed to promote independence yet provide necessary support and assistance.

For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our eighteen county service area includes Amite, Franklin, Forrest, Hancock, Harrison, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall, Wayne Counties.

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMust be able to obtain MS CDL Class C Drivers License within 60 days of hireValid Mississippi Drivers License with satisfactory driving record (no moving violations within 3 years)Will pass CPR, MANDT, and other required testingExperience working with the IDD population preferredExperience assisting others with ADLs preferred

Responsibilities: Accompanies and transports individuals on outings in the community, work, or other activities.Assists individuals with learning independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and social skills.Completes all required documentation on time and by PBMHR standards.Supports goals and plans made with clinical staff to enhance quality of life.
