Summary:
Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is actively seeking a caring and energetic Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ellisville, MS. This position is part-time and will have options for weekend work. The Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in providing assistance with daily activities, accompanying consumers on outings in the community, and supporting treatment plans in partnership with clinical staff to enhance the quality of life for those we support.
For 50 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our eighteen-county service area includes Amite, Covington, Forrest, Franklin, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jeff Davis, Jones, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion, Pear River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall and Wayne
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMust be able to obtain MS CDL Class C Drivers License within 60 days of hireValid Mississippi Drivers License with satisfactory driving record (no moving violations within 3 years)Will pass CPR, MANDT, and other required testingExperience working with the IDD population preferredExperience assisting others with ADLs preferred
Responsibilities: Act as models for appropriate behavior.May provide transportation to and from facilities and to and from activities in the community.Performs other work-oriented tasks as assigned by supervisor.Responsible for training participants in skills and conduct daily activities, training, and documentation for IDD day programs.Will eat lunch on site with participants and take breaks on site.Will help individuals learn skills for daily living appropriate to a home environment and will use pragmatic training techniques to develop these skills.Demonstrates the importance of community involvement, social interactions, and maintaining relationships.
