PART-TIME | NORTH JERSEY | WEEKEND AVAILABILITY REQUIRED
Hope's Promise Respite is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), also known within our programs as mentors, to support children, youth, and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in North Jersey. This posting covers community-based DSP, mentor, and Agency Weekend Respite assignments; candidates do not need to apply to separate postings.
SCHEDULE
This is a part-time role. Applicants must have dependable weekend availability, with additional weekday or evening assignments available by mutual agreement. Assignments may include consistent visits in a participant's home or community and extended themed weekend respite programs.
PAY
$20 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement when transporting a participant in your personal vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide safe, respectful, person-centered support in homes and community settings.
- Help participants strengthen communication, social, daily-living, and independence skills.
- Follow individualized support plans, behavior-support strategies, and safety procedures.
- Plan and participate in structured community activities.
- Complete accurate service documentation and communicate promptly with supervisors and families.
- Support personal-care routines when required by an assigned participant.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, reliability, and consistent attendance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
- Resume required.
- At least one year of experience supporting children or adults with disabilities, behavioral needs, caregiving, education, childcare, ABA, or human services.
- Valid driver's license, reliable insured transportation, and willingness to transport participants when assigned.
- Ability to work regularly on weekends.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Able to complete all required post-offer clearances, fingerprinting, health screening, drug screening, and training.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it before assignment.
- Patient, dependable, communicative, and comfortable supporting behavioral and daily-living needs.
