The Opportunity
As a Direct Support Professional, you will be a mentor, teacher, guide, and advocate for people with I/DD, helping them build skills, access their community, and live as independently as possible.
This is a hands-on role where your patience, creativity, and reliability directly impact someone’s quality of life. You will gain experience in human services, receive ongoing training, and have opportunities to grow your career while working a flexible schedule.
What You'll Do
- Provide day-to-day support to individuals with I/DD in their homes and communities, always treating them with dignity and respect.
- Assist with community access, including transportation and participation in appointments, errands, and local activities.
- Support personal care needs as appropriate, following individual service plans and health and safety guidelines.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and help clients build and maintain social connections and relationships.
- Engage individuals in recreational and skill-building activities that promote independence, confidence, and enjoyment.
What Success Looks Like
- Within your first few months, you build trusting, professional relationships with the individuals you support and their families or care teams.
- You reliably follow individual service plans, documentation, and safety procedures, with minimal reminders or corrections.
- Clients you support show progress in skills, participation in community activities, and confidence in daily routines.
- Your supervisors and teammates see you as a dependable, positive contributor who communicates clearly and steps in to help when needed.
What We're Looking For
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills, especially in real-time, day-to-day situations.
- Strong communication and team collaboration abilities, with a respectful, professional approach.
- A genuine passion for helping others, and a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow in the role.
- At least 21 years of age, with reliable transportation, a valid CA Driver's License, and the ability to pass a background check.
Compensation and Benefits
- $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
- Health insurance and additional benefits for full-time positions; flexible schedules and ongoing training.
- Full-time and Part-time
- Day shifts with rotating weekends; 4-hour and 8-hour shifts available.
