Job Description

Director of Access Enablement

Position Overview

A leading physician-led medical practice is seeking an experienced Director of Access Enablement to build and lead the systems, technology, partnerships, and strategies that support scalable patient access.

This is a newly created leadership position offering the opportunity to shape the organization's access enablement function from the ground up. The Director will translate enterprise priorities into an integrated roadmap covering access technology, digital tools, automation, workforce enablement, clinician ramp-up, capacity planning, and performance infrastructure.

This position leads through influence, collaboration, and accountable teams. It is focused on the broader enablement ecosystem—not the daily management of access operations or hands-on technology configuration.

Location: On-site in SouthPark, Charlotte, NC

  • Partner with technical teams on architecture, integrations, security, infrastructure, standards, and technology risk
  • Manage strategic vendor and implementation partner relationships
  • Hold vendors accountable for performance, service levels, project commitments, and roadmap alignment
  • Prioritize technology investments and ensure implementation plans include clear requirements, ownership, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes

Transformation and Access Capabilities

  • Oversee the access transformation portfolio, including digital access, automation, AI, workflow improvement, self-service, and product initiatives
  • Provide direction and executive support to leaders responsible for implementation, product ownership, adoption, and workflow transformation

  • Partner with Clinical Access and Triage leadership to incorporate clinical access and value-based care considerations into strategic decisions
  • Coordinate initiatives across Patient Access, Clinical Access, Operations, IT, infrastructure teams, and external vendors
  • Address complex barriers that span operational, clinical, and technical areas
  • Maintain alignment among executive leaders, internal stakeholders, project teams, and external partners

Team and Organizational Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop the Access Enablement function
  • Establish clear priorities, responsibilities, decision rights, and performance expectations
  • Create accountability across enablement strategy, technology engineering, product development, transformation, platform administration, and enterprise IT partnerships
  • Lead multiple workstreams and achieve outcomes through other leaders and cross-functional teams
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage enablement budget planning, resource allocation, business cases, and investment priorities
  • Evaluate vendors and technology investments based on organizational impact, scalability, cost, and measurable return
  • Balance immediate access needs with sustainable, long-term solutions
