Responsibilities

The Director, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the delivery of competent and efficient patient-centered clinical pharmacy services, and to provide strategic leadership and management of clinical pharmacy services in the ambulatory environment. The Director, Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring performance improvement goals and any subsequent process changes that result. This individual is also responsible for providing pharmacy support to physician practices and other ambulatory stakeholders to optimize medication management processes and safety. This leader works autonomously to lead ambulatory clinical pharmacy processes and ensure optimal delivery of care.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership of ambulatory clinical pharmacy programming, initiatives and services.
  • Provides leadership and support of physician practice medication management programs to effectively promote medication formulary compliance, cost effectiveness and safety.
  • Demonstrates expertise in ambulatory pharmacy practice and the mission of the pharmacy enterprise, including awareness of innovations in technology and practice in ambulatory pharmacy.
  • Provides leadership of inpatient transition of care services to promote medication adherence, safety, and optimize domestic prescription capture.
  • Collaborates with pharmacy leadership and internal/external stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient pharmacy services are maintained throughout the health system.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3 years' experience in a community pharmacy environment.
  • Pharmacy degree (PharmD or B.S.) from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Registered pharmacist (Kentucky)

Desired:

  • Master degree in business, healthcare administration, or pharmacy administration. ASHP accredited postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) ambulatory pharmacy residency program or community pharmacy residency program.
