ABOUT VOORHEES UNIVERSITY
In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located in rural Denmark, South Carolina, the University serves traditional and nontraditional students primarily from South Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States; however, seeks to expand our reach both nationally and internationally. POSITION: DIRECTOR, ANNUAL GIVING DIVISION: UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 FLSA Classification: Exempt Position Type/Duration: Institution and Grant funded/Full-time, 12 months Position Schedule: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday (extended hours, evenings, weekends, and travel required)
SCOPE OF UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT
The Division of University Advancement at Voorhees University serves as the outreach arm of the institution and works closely with students, faculty, staff, alumni, government officials, community leaders, donors and the media. The Division oversees a wide range of responsibilities including alumni relations, community engagement, development, donor relations, foundations, and university events. The Division comprises the following units:
• University Advancement • Communications and Marketing • Alumni Relations • Community Relations • Sponsored Research • Special Events
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
Reporting directly to the Vice President for University Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning, managing, and executing a comprehensive annual giving program that serves as the foundation of the University's fundraising initiatives. S/he is accountable for meeting annual fundraising and participation goals through strategic solicitation, donor stewardship, and year-round engagement of alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff, and other constituents below the major gift level. The Director develops and implements strategies for direct mail, electronic fundraising, online giving, and participation-based campaigns. This role establishes standards for donor communications, acknowledgments, and recognition while ensuring alignment with the University's broader development goals and campaign strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential roles and responsibilities of the Director of Annual Giving include:
• Promotes the mission of Voorhees University to faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the community at large. • Manages the University's Annual Fund and participation-based giving programs. • Develops and executes a comprehensive, year-round annual giving plan including goals, strategies, and programming. • Oversees strategy development, design, and implementation of direct mail and electronic solicitations in collaboration with the Vice President for University Advancement, Executive Assistant, and consultants. • Manages the University's online giving program to increase participation and donor retention. • Executes initiatives to acquire new donors and encourage renewal and upgrade of existing donors. • Manages relationships with external fundraising consultants, vendors, and service providers. • Maintains detailed schedules for all direct marketing activities and ensures appropriate review of copy and mailing lists. • Collaborates with the Director of Development and Major and Planned Giving Officers to determine solicitation strategies and donor movement. • Develops donor recognition opportunities and supports effective stewardship practices. • Coordinates with Advancement Services to ensure alignment between annual giving goals and donor services functions. • Develops talking points and acknowledgment language for donor communications and gift recognition. • Monitors performance metrics and prepares reports assessing fundraising outcomes and opportunities for growth.

Exhibit excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and decisive leadership. Impeccable integrity and commitment to ethical fundraising practices. Demonstrated success in annual giving, direct marketing, or advancement programs. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously. Exceptional written and oral communication proficiency. Knowledge of higher education fundraising, preferably within an HBCU environment. Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment. Commitment to the University's mission, values, and Episcopal heritage. Exceptional customer service and professionalism. Great sense of humor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in fundraising, advancement services, or a related field.

EDUCATION
Master's degree from an accredited institution preferred; bachelor's degree required.
