    The AI Risk Oversight team is part of the broader Model Risk Oversight (MRO) team under Corporate Risk Management. The team establishes and maintains Schwab's AI risk management program so the Company can safely and responsibly onboard, use, monitor, and govern agentic and generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions while meeting internal policy requirements, regulatory expectations, and industry practices.

    The team develops and maintains the AI risk program, including policy, standards, procedures, governance activities, committee structure, risk metrics and reporting, stakeholder engagement, training, communications, adherence monitoring, and evidence needed to support effective challenge from audit and regulators. This role provides an opportunity to drive the AI risk management program at Schwab by coordinating across AI owners, AI reviewers, Enterprise Risk Management, Technology, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Data, Operational Risk, and other stakeholders.

    We are looking for someone with an intersection of risk program and policy experience coupled with a deep knowledge of artificial intelligence approaches, implementation, and governance. This role will report to the Director of AI Risk and be responsible for:

    • Driving the AI risk management program roadmap, workplans, stakeholder engagement, and execution discipline needed to maintain an effective enterprise program.

    • Maintaining and updating AI risk management policy, standards, procedures, guidance, program documentation, change management plans, and adherence expectations.

    • Coordinating across AI owners, AI reviewers, Enterprise Risk Management, Technology, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Data, Operational Risk, business risk partners, and other stakeholders to keep program requirements clear, current, and executable.

    • Assessing regulatory guidance, audit findings, industry practices, emerging AI risks, and internal risk framework requirements to identify needed program enhancements.

    • Preparing audit- and regulator-ready evidence, narratives, responses, and program documentation that demonstrate how Schwab governs AI risk.

    • Leading AI risk program self-assessments, gap analyses, issue identification, remediation planning, and enhancement tracking.

    • Designing and rolling out training, communications, stakeholder materials, and awareness campaigns that explain AI risk requirements and responsibilities.

    • Establishing and maintaining adherence monitoring routines for AI risk standards and procedures, including escalation of exceptions, violations, observations, issues, and remediation status.

    • Leading AI Risk Working Group, reporting to the Model Governance Subcommittee, and delivering senior management updates by developing clear agendas, decision materials, meeting outcomes, and follow-up actions.

    • Partnering with reporting, dashboard, metrics, inventory, and collective review leads to ensure program governance activities connect to operating data without directly owning those reporting or review execution functions.

    What you have

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree.

    • Knowledge of artificial intelligence techniques and approaches including development, implementation, monitoring, governance, and risk management of AI.

    • Experience managing risk, compliance, governance, audit, regulatory, or enterprise program management activities in a complex organization. Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, policy governance, issue management, and program oversight practices.

    • Ability to translate regulatory guidance, audit feedback, industry practices, and internal risk requirements into practical standards, procedures, training, and monitoring activities.

    • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create concise, defensible documentation for senior leaders, auditors, regulators, and cross-functional stakeholders.

    • Ability to influence and coordinate stakeholders across business, risk, technology, cybersecurity, compliance, data, and operations teams without direct authority.

    • High attention to detail, strong ownership, and ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, dependencies, and deadlines.

    • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives that require stakeholder alignment, issue resolution, clear communication, and disciplined follow-through.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree, risk management certification, project/program management certification, audit certification, or related credentials.

    • Experience with practices tangential to AI risk, such as model risk management, technology risk, cybersecurity risk, data risk, operational risk, compliance, or enterprise risk management.

    • Familiarity with AI risk management guidance and frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, SR 11-7 and SR 26-2, FHFA Advisory Bulletin 2022-02, EU AI Act concepts, Financial Stability Board guidance, or other relevant regulatory and industry practices.

    • Experience preparing materials for regulators, internal audit, external audit, risk committees, governance forums, or senior leadership.

    • Experience developing policies, standards, procedures, controls, adherence monitoring plans, training materials, or change management plans.

    • Experience in financial services, banking, brokerage, or another highly regulated industry.
