Director, Biometrics Systems

Our client is an innovative, clinical-stage biotechnology company seeking an experienced Director, Business Systems – Biometrics to lead the strategy, optimization, and continuous improvement of technology platforms supporting Biometrics. This individual will partner closely with Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, Data Management, and Information Technology to deliver scalable systems, analytics capabilities, and workflow improvements that accelerate clinical development.

Location: Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of business and functional requirements supporting Biometrics systems, workflows, and analytics platforms.
• Own the full requirements lifecycle, including new implementations, technology enhancements, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
• Partner cross-functionally with Biometrics and IT teams to optimize SAS, Posit Connect, and Linux-based computing environments, improving performance, scalability, access management, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Business Relationship Managers and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, define business value, establish project scope, and measure success.
• Lead the design and expansion of enterprise analytics and visualization capabilities using Tableau or similar BI platforms.
• Develop and maintain Python-based utilities and automation tools that improve efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability across Biometrics functions.
• Establish and maintain development standards utilizing Git/GitHub, including branching strategies, code reviews, documentation standards, and version control best practices.
• Evaluate current-state processes, identify opportunities for automation and standardization, and implement future-state solutions that improve operational efficiency.
• Translate scientific and operational requirements into user stories, functional specifications, workflow documentation, acceptance criteria, and traceability documentation.
• Lead software validation activities, including test planning, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect management, and validated change control within regulated environments.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to evaluate technology solutions, manage enhancements, and deliver successful implementations.
• Lead release planning, organizational change management, training, adoption, and post-release support activities.
• Serve as a strategic partner to Biometrics leadership on high-impact initiatives supporting clinical development.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience supporting SAS and Posit technologies within Linux enterprise environments.
• Strong experience developing analytics and visualization solutions using Tableau or comparable business intelligence platforms.
• Experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled tools within Statistical Programming or Biometrics environments.
• Working knowledge of Python and R for scripting, automation, and data workflow development.
• Experience utilizing Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative software development.
• Strong business analysis and requirements gathering experience, including translating stakeholder needs into technical specifications.
• Experience working within Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid software development methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience supporting validated systems within regulated GxP environments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence cross-functional technical and business teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience driving process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong systems-thinking mindset with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience supporting cloud-based analytics environments, including AWS.
• Background supporting enterprise Biometrics organizations within biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional technology initiatives from concept through implementation.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Approximately 10+ years of progressive experience supporting enterprise business systems, analytics platforms, or Biometrics technologies.
• Prior experience within a regulated biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment is strongly preferred.
