Under the general direction of the Chief Operations and People Officer, the Director of the Business Enablement Team (BET) provides strategic leadership, management, and oversight for the division's technology, data, project delivery, and business enablement functions. The Director leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for technology strategy, systems architecture, application development, systems integration, portfolio and project management, business intelligence, IT service delivery, cybersecurity, AI, and emerging technology initiatives.

The Director serves as a strategic partner to divisional leadership, translating organizational goals into scalable business and technology solutions. The position is responsible for establishing long-range roadmaps, governance frameworks, operational standards, and investment priorities that improve organizational effectiveness, support growth, and enable innovation.

The Director oversees a complex ecosystem of enterprise applications, cloud-based platforms, business intelligence systems, learning technologies, and integrated data services that support learners, instructors, staff, and external partners. The role ensures technology and data resources are aligned with division objectives, operational needs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

The Director functions with a high degree of autonomy and exercises independent judgment in the management of personnel, budgets, projects, vendor relationships, technology investments, and strategic initiatives.

This position requires excellent communication across all levels of the organization that is collegial, collaborative, and in alignment with the UC Davis Principles of Community.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Progressive leadership experience overseeing technology, data, business intelligence, project management, or related operational functions.
• Experience managing professional staff, organizational resources, budgets, and vendor relationships.
• Experience leading enterprise initiatives involving technology, process improvement, organizational transformation, or service delivery.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including strategic planning, staff development, performance management, and resource stewardship.
• Knowledge of enterprise technology, data management, business intelligence, project management, and service delivery principles.
• Ability to analyze complex organizational challenges, develop effective solutions, and lead change across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences and build collaborative partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or other relevant project management certifications.
• Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Organizational Leadership, or a related field
• Experience in higher education, continuing and professional education, workforce development, or another complex, mission-driven organization.
• Experience leading enterprise technology, digital transformation, business intelligence, portfolio management, or organizational change initiatives.
• Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, Agile, ITIL, Lean, Prosci Change Management, CDMP, or similar credentials.
• Knowledge of enterprise architecture, systems integration, cloud-based platforms, cybersecurity, and technology governance practices.
• Knowledge of business intelligence, data governance, analytics, reporting, and data-informed decision-making frameworks.
• Ability to develop and execute long-range strategies that align technology, data, projects, and operations with organizational goals.
• Demonstrated ability to foster innovation, lead organizational change, and build collaborative, high-performing teams in a complex environment.

Department Overview

UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the workforce development and lifelong learning arm of the university. The division maintains the most diverse portfolio on campus, including online professional courses and certificates, contract training for public and private organizations and state agencies, online graduate degrees in partnership with UC Davis colleges, international academic and cultural exchange programs, pre-college programs and more.

UC Davis CPE is a global leader in continuing education. With nearly 90,000 annual enrollments in professional, academic and enrichment courses and millions of enrollments in Massive Open Online Courses, CPE serves lifelong learners in the growing Sacramento region, all 50 states and more than 100 countries. CPE is the campus leader in online education, supporting schools and colleges across UC Davis in their efforts to make learning accessible. Work Environment
