Position Summary:

The Director of Category Management will be a key member of the US business leadership team, reporting to the US General Manager and responsible for building, developing, and leading a transformational category management team focused on driving brand and category growth to deliver both short and long-term strategic and financial objectives.

In this role, the Director of Category Management will develop customer relationships to maximize the brand’s retail brand position, investment productivity and overall thought leadership across an omnichannel consumer experience. This leader will also have the opportunity to build and develop a new team adding category management and shopper insight capabilities to Sunstar.

A successful category management leader will have a demonstrated growth mindset, work with multiple priorities, and manage ambiguity as part of a fast-paced, high-performance team with a bias for action.

Essential Job Functions: 

1. Translating business priorities into category management strategies and tactics to achieve financial and strategic goals.
2. Key contributor to the development of customer-specific presentation materials supporting sales team’s customer meetings for and joint business planning sessions.
3. Engage with key strategic customers to develop brand, segment, and category growth strategies.
4. Manage relationships for data providers and partners to best utilize and deploy value added insights across the organization.
5. Develop, execute, and manage customer specific and ad-hoc projects, reports, analysis and competitive evaluation using multiple sources of data.
6. Responsible for category “captain” related activities including category reviews and POG development.
7. Prepare and communicate monthly business updates.
8. Work collaboratively across key cross functional groups including sales, brand marketing, customer marketing, new products, and finance.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Experience

• CPG Category Management, Sales and Customer Marketing experience.
• Strong financial acumen, understanding of profit/revenue drivers and ROI analysis.
• Proven experience leading agencies partners to achieve business goals.

Skills  

• Strong analytical skills and experience gathering and analyzing Nielsen, IRI, POS and other industry data sources.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Critical thinking & decision-making skills through data utilization to deliver results.

The pay range for this position of Director of Category Management  is $162,974- $212,000. However, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus as part of total compensation.
