At Houston Methodist, the Director Clinical Operations position is responsible for providing the overall strategic direction for the clinical management of the Specialty Physician Group and Primary Care Group operations. The Director Clinical Operations position will work in conjunction with Physician Organization (PO) executive management to implement and manage efficient clinical workflow, processes and patient safety, clinical education, and quality. As an engaged leader, this position will be responsible for the assessment, implementation, oversight, and expansion of nursing and medical assistant education and provide oversight for centralized clinical support services across the PO. The Director Clinical Operations position will actively participate in the PO's quality committee and contribute to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. This position will also create standardized performance expectations and training for each clinical job function in the clinic and expand/implement standard operational and clinical metrics to track and monitor performance and competency. The Director Clinical Operations position will facilitate performance improvement activities linked to overall strategic goals of the PO.
The Director position responsibilities include overseeing the activities of the department staff, ensuring quality, productivity, functional excellence, and efficiency to accomplish strategic and operational objectives. In addition, this position is accountable for employee engagement, adequate staffing levels, budget development and compliance, staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. This position also ensures training, monitoring and operations initiatives are implemented which secure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations.
