About the Role:
The Director, Commercial Effectiveness is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing the Commercial Effectiveness strategy for a defined commercial sub-function at Neurocrine. This role ensures enterprise commercial strategies are translated into actionable field execution frameworks, performance management systems, and operational tools that drive measurable business outcomes across all marketed products and therapeutic areas.
Reporting to senior commercial leadership, this leader develops strategic plans and operational objectives for Commercial Effectiveness and is accountable for performance, results, and continuous improvement of the function. The Director partners cross-functionally across Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial Analytics, IT, Legal/Compliance, and Learning & Development to ensure field teams are equipped with the insights, tools, communication, and capabilities required to achieve business goals.
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
Strategic Leadership & Functional Accountability
Develop and execute the Commercial Effectiveness strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned to enterprise commercial objectives
Establish sub-functional goals, KPIs, and performance standards to drive measurable field execution excellence
Translate brand, sales, and market access strategies into scalable operational frameworks and field execution models
Direct resolution of complex business issues impacting field performance, customer engagement, and productivity
Lead launch readiness planning from a field effectiveness lens, including KPI design, reporting architecture, and post-launch optimization strategy
Benchmark industry best practices and introduce innovative commercial models, technologies, and processes to enhance competitive advantage
Ensure alignment of field metrics, reporting practices, and processes with compliance, privacy, and data governance standards
Performance & Analytics Integration
Oversee development and governance of field dashboards, scorecards, and reporting tools aligned to strategic objectives
Partner with Commercial Analytics to ensure seamless integration between enterprise analytics and field-facing insights
Lead quarterly business reviews with Sales Leadership to assess trends, identify risks/opportunities, and drive action planning
Identify execution gaps and implement data-driven optimization strategies across area, region, and zone levels
Champion advanced analytics and omnichannel integration into field tools to support data-informed decision-making
Field Operations & Execution Excellence
Own and evolve Field Playbooks to define roles, responsibilities, execution standards, and operational expectations
Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of commercial technologies (CRM enhancements, targeting tools, AI-enabled capabilities)
Oversee customer targeting optimization, alignment refinements, and other high-impact tactical initiatives
Conduct structured field engagements (e.g., ride-alongs) to assess execution quality and translate insights into systemic improvements
Drive continuous improvement of processes to enhance field productivity, scalability, and customer engagement effectiveness
Cross-Functional Influence
Serve as strategic liaison between Commercial leadership and field teams to ensure alignment and feedback integration
Partner with Franchise GMs/VPs to ensure effective pull-through of strategy across field organizations
Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Marketing, IT, and L&D to ensure cohesive execution models
Influence senior leaders on policy, process, and execution decisions impacting field performance
Represent Commercial Effectiveness in leadership forums and major planning initiatives
People Leadership & Team Development
Lead, develop, and coach the Commercial Effectiveness team; foster accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans for team members
Oversee workforce planning, budget management, and resource allocation for the function
Build organizational capability to support future portfolio growth and increasing commercial complexity

Compensation:
The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $186,500.00-$254,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
