The Opportunity
 

Abbott Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics (RMDx) - Infectious Disease (ID) is seeking a Director, Commercial Finance that will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of the Division's financial planning activities in U.S. including the compilation, analysis, and distribution of management review packages for Long Range Plans, month end reporting and Latest Best Estimates (LBEs). Oversight of the preparation and analysis of Division Office P&Ls for the above planning activities as well as for month – end Actuals, being the liaison between Division Finance and the various divisional financial planning groups around the world plus Corporate Finance, and oversight of all Division-level daily and month-end sales reporting.

What You’ll Work On

• Strategic Leadership: Partner with the Division President and senior leadership to influence decision-making, improve cost effectiveness, drive business excellence initiatives, and identify opportunities to protect and grow profitability.
• Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, OEM, Latest Best Estimates (LBEs), and financial updates while providing insightful analysis and challenging assumptions when necessary.
• Business Performance Management: Monitor financial results, analyze variances, identify cost-reduction opportunities, assess business risks, and recommend actions to achieve short- and long-term objectives.
• Executive Communication: Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders and prepare presentations for senior leadership and corporate management.
• Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP, Abbott financial policies, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and maintain strong financial controls, reporting accuracy, and data integrity.
• Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, consolidations, variance analyses, and the integrity of divisional financial records.
• Systems & Process Improvement: Maintain and enhance financial planning systems and ensure quality control over financial submissions, assumptions, and reporting processes.
• People Leadership: Lead and develop a finance team, recruit top talent, provide growth opportunities, and manage multiple direct reports.
• Decision Making & Influence: Operate independently with minimal direction, adapt to changing priorities, make decisions with limited information when necessary, and balance divisional needs with corporate objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree BA or BS in Accounting or Finance.
• 12-15 years experience in the areas of Accounting/Finance, including 6-8 years of supervisory/ management experience.
• Solid working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as well as Abbott accounting procedures (CFMs). There is considerable contact with a variety of financial and operating personnel at various levels in other Divisions and Corporate, and as a result a high degree of human relations and communication's skills is required.
• Understanding of the related functions both within the Division and the rest of the Corporation. This includes evaluating results and making recommendations for improvement. It also includes planning for constant change within the Division.
• Creativity and the ability to work in an ambiguous and unstructured environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CMA; incumbent is responsible for the proper accounting and providing advice on accounting ramifications of business decisions for the division.

The base pay for this position is

$149,300.00 – $298,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
