Responsibilities:
How You’ll Contribute
- Lead day-to-day construction operations and the construction project management team, creating clear priorities, accountability, and consistent execution.
- Translate BJ’s development strategy into executable plans for new restaurants, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
- Own project budgets, schedules, procurement, contract administration, change orders, quality control, and closeout activities.
- Lead pre-construction planning, including feasibility reviews, cost estimating, constructability assessments, value engineering, and project readiness.
- Anticipate project risks, remove barriers, and provide clear options and recommendations to the Chief Development Officer and senior leaders.
- Partner across Development, Design, Real Estate, Finance, and Operations to drive effective decisions, handoffs, and restaurant openings.
- Set clear performance expectations for general contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and other external partners.
- Monitor portfolio KPIs and champion practical improvements that strengthen quality, control costs, and improve speed to market.
- Coach and develop construction team members while building strong, consistent project management practices.
- Maintain high standards for site safety, quality, permitting, regulatory compliance, and integrity across every project.
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 8+ years of progressive construction or development experience, including at least 3 years leading teams or complex, multi-site project portfolios.
- Demonstrated success delivering ground-up construction, remodel, and capital improvement projects; multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, permitting, building codes, cost controls, project scheduling, and project management software such as Primavera or MS Project.
- A track record of managing general contractors, consultants, and external partners across multiple concurrent projects and geographic regions.
- Strong people leadership, business judgment, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make timely decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- The ability to communicate clearly influence cross-functional partners, and present project risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Knowledge of value engineering, sustainable building practices, and construction technology preferred.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Salary Range
USD $170,000 – $185,000 plus bonus eligibility
This pay range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Final salary within the range will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, and other job-related qualifications.
