CALIBRE Systems, inc., an employee-owned, mission focused solutions and digital transformation company is seeking candidates for a Director of Contracts position, supporting our headquarters in Alexandria, VA.  This is a hybrid role.  

The Director of Contracts reports to the Executive Vice President/CHRO and provides strategic and operational leadership for all government contracting activities across the organization. This role is responsible for end‑to‑end contract lifecycle management, proposal and pricing support, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation for a diverse portfolio of federal, state, and local government contracts.

The Director of Contracts serves as a senior advisor to executive leadership and program teams, ensuring contracts are administered in accordance with FAR, DFARS, and other applicable regulations while supporting business growth and customer mission success.

Key Responsibilities

·         Lead, manage, and develop the Contracts organization, including supervision, mentoring, performance management, training, and retention of Contract Administration staff

·         Oversee the administration of complex government contracts across multiple contract vehicles and types (e.g., IDIQ, cost‑reimbursement, T&M, fixed‑price)

·         Provide expert guidance on contract interpretation, compliance, and risk management to executive leadership, program managers, and functional stakeholders

·         Serve as the senior point of contact on contractual matters with government contracting officers, contracting officer representatives, and prime contractor partners

·         Ensure compliant contract lifecycle execution, including review, negotiation, award, modification, performance monitoring, and closeout

·         Identify contractual, financial, and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies aligned with business objectives and compliance requirements

·         Support proposal development and capture efforts, including participation in proposal reviews, pricing strategy discussions, and compliance assessments

·         Review and approve high‑quality, compliant business and pricing proposals submitted to government customers

·         Maintain audit readiness and support interactions with oversight agencies such as DCAA, DCMA, and internal audit functions

·         Develop, implement, and enforce contracts policies, procedures, and internal controls consistent with regulatory and business requirements

·         Monitor changes in government regulations and industry trends and advise leadership on potential impacts to programs and operations

·         Train and brief internal stakeholders on contract administration practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies

·         Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational goals

 

Required Skills

·         Proven executive‑level leadership experience in government contracts and contract management

·         Deep working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and other applicable federal, state, and local government contracting regulations

·         Demonstrated experience managing risk, compliance, and audit interactions in a government contracting environment

·         Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills

·         Ability to lead cross‑functional collaboration among legal, finance, pricing, compliance, and program management teams

·         Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior executives and government officials

·         Track record of building strong, professional relationships with government customers and external partners

·         Ability to balance compliance requirements with business growth and operational efficiency

·         High degree of integrity, judgment, and accountability consistent with government contracting standards

required Experience

·         Bachelor’s degree in contracts, business, law, finance, or a related field, or minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible government contracts experience; advanced degree preferred

·         Professional certification preferred, including one or more of the following:

o   Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM)

o   Certified Federal Contract Manager (CFCM)

o   Senior Professional in Supply Management (SPSM)
