Job Summary

The Director, Cyber Security Engineering provides leadership and directs team(s) responsible for building the most complex or industry-leading technical security programs that protect the integrity of digital networks, systems, applications and data. Utilizes technical and industry experience to formulate technology strategies specific to area of responsibility, and responsible for achieving strategic and operational business goals. Evaluates and adjusts strategies to respond to competition. Outcomes directed have a moderate to significant impact on the organizations short-term and long-term results, specific customers and/or partners. Decisions have moderate to significant impact on the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

Directs and controls the design, definition, and implementation of enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) and cyber security engineering programs that protect the integrity of networks, systems, applications, and data. Leads engineering team responsible for authentication, authorization, identity lifecycle management, directory services, privileged access, and identity governance across cloud and on-prem environments.

Provides technical leadership across IAM capabilities, including SSO/MFA frameworks, federation (SAML/OIDC/OAuth2), access provisioning workflows, and Zero Trust aligned controls. Oversees engineering and integration efforts leveraging platforms such as Entra ID (Azure AD), Ping Identity, Saviynt, SailPoint, Okta, and ForgeRock and remain current on competing platforms to inform future-state direction or architectural decisions.

Guides operational ownership of critical authentication and access control services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and strong security posture.

Stays current on evolving IAM and cyber security technologies such as passwordless authentication, adaptive/risk-based access, identity automation, identity threat detection, and cloud-native identity services. Evaluates emerging tools and modernization opportunities across the broader identity landscape-including enterprise IGA, PAM, federation, and credential management platforms-to inform enterprise strategy.

Works with key stakeholders across Security, Infrastructure, HR, Engineering, Application teams, and Compliance to formulate a comprehensive IAM roadmap aligned with business objectives and budget considerations. Applies deep knowledge of identity technologies to identify modernization opportunities, reduce complexity, strengthen controls, and improve user experience.

Implements IAM policies, standards, and operational models that support enterprise-wide consistency, access governance, audit expectations, and risk management. Analyzes long-term impacts of platform decisions, modernization efforts, vendor capabilities, and strategic shifts within the IAM ecosystem.

Builds and enhances strong relationships with internal partners, vendors, and integration teams to ensure alignment and program success. Drives modernization efforts across entire enterprise.

Manages budgets, operational plans, engineering priorities, and performance expectations for IAM and security engineering teams. Ensures delivery of well-governed, cost-effective identity services with high availability, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement in automation, stability, and control effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience in IT security or High School/GED and at least 11 years of experience in IT security.

At least 6 years of experience working with security protocols and standards, vulnerability assessment tools, packet analyzers, scripting languages and security management suites, penetration testing tools and countermeasures and mitigation techniques applied to web applications.

Experience in at least two of the following: security engineering, identity engineering security applications engineering and/or security infrastructure engineering.

Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.

Experience interacting at the executive level.

At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.

At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.

Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

CRISC or CISM certification (CISSP, CISA, or IAM-focused certifications also valued)

Hands-on experience with major IAM platforms such as Entra ID, PingFederate/PingID, Saviynt, CyberArk, SailPoint, Okta, or ForgeRock, including identity lifecycle management, federation, MFA/SSO, privileged access, and directory integrations

Experience implementing identity standards (SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, SCIM, FIDO2), MFA/passwordless technologies, and identity governance processes

Prior leadership experience directing IAM or cyber security engineering teams and driving identity transformation initiatives at enterprise scale

Experience integrating IAM with modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), enterprise applications, and SaaS ecosystem
