The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research organization of the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Founded in 1934 as the Engineering Experiment Station, GTRI has grown to more than 2,900 employees supporting eight laboratories in over 20 locations around the country.
Each day, GTRIs science and engineering expertise is used to turn ideas into workable solutions for our customers. We take the best ideas, often co-developed with our Georgia Tech academic partners, and turn them into systems applications that provide a significant technological advantage over other approaches.
Job Summary
The Director of Data Management and Automation leads the development and execution of strategies to enhance data governance and drive automation across the institution. This role oversees a team of data professionals to ensure data quality, security, and accessibility, while identifying and implementing automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency and support data-informed decision-making. Additionally, the role includes setting team goals, designing effective organizational structures, evaluating performance, providing feedback, making compensation decisions, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Develop and implement a comprehensive data management strategy that aligns with the institutions goals and ensures the integrity, security, and accessibility of data across all departments.
Job Duty 2 -
Lead and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and promotes best practices in data management and analysis.
Job Duty 3 -
Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards to safeguard sensitive information.
Job Duty 4 -
Drive the adoption of automation technologies by evaluating existing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions that streamline operations.
Job Duty 5 -
Monitor and analyze data trends and performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of data management initiatives and automation projects.
Job Duty 6 -
Oversee the selection and implementation of data management and automation tools and technologies, ensuring they meet organizational requirements and are integrated effectively into existing systems.
Job Duty 7 -
Facilitate training and development programs for staff to enhance their understanding of data management practices and the use of automation technologies.
Job Duty 8 -
Engage with external stakeholders, including vendors and industry partners, to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in data management and automation within higher education.
Job Duty 9 -
Collaborate with academic and administrative units to identify data needs and provide insights that inform decision-making processes and enhance institutional effectiveness.

Perform other duties as assigned.
